The tour operator that sells the safari, directly. This site is a listing site: it publishes safaris from independent tour companies so you can compare them in one place. It does not sell, book or run any of the trips, it never handles your payment, and it does not add a fee to the operator's price.

Use the filters to narrow the list by destination, activity and trip length, then open the listings that look close. Each one shows the operator, the day-by-day itinerary and the trip length, so you can put two or three side by side before you contact anyone.

Because only some operators have published one. Where a price is shown it is the operator's own figure and the operator confirms it when they quote you. Where none is shown, the listing says so rather than guessing - ask the operator and they will price it for your dates and group size.

Park entry is set by the authorities, not by the operator: Tanzania National Parks sets the national park fees and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority sets its own. Climbing Kilimanjaro and Meru carries a separate park permit. Almost every operator folds these into the price they quote you, but ask them to itemise it so you know what is and is not included.

June to October is the long dry season and the peak window almost everywhere: game concentrates on permanent water and the migration reaches the northern Serengeti. Tanzania has two rainfall patterns, though. The north and the coast get short rains from October to December and long rains from March to May, while the south and west run a single wet season from November into April. The wetter months trade some comfort for greener country, better birding and quieter parks.
